Recently, I decided to start visiting a different psychiatric clinic, one that focuses more on therapy sessions. In the waiting room sits a rather thick book titled An Introduction to Freud. I’ve taken to reading it during the brief moments I wait before each session, half-jokingly wondering how strange it would be if I somehow managed to finish the whole thing, just a few pages at a time. But then again—if I were to stop needing to come here before ever reaching the final chapter—perhaps that would be the truest happiness.
