わたしの一番古い記憶は、幼稚園の頃に靴を履かずに登園したことだ。なぜ外に行くときは「靴」というものを足に装着しなければいけないのだろうと思っていた。それからずっと、わたしはそういう態度で生きている。
My earliest memory is of going to kindergarten without wearing any shoes. I remember wondering why people insisted on fastening these things called shoes onto their feet whenever they went outside. And ever since then, I suppose I’ve carried that same attitude through my life.
